A Sword And A Helmet - Keyframes - ALLOY

These are the 4 keyframes I did for the medieval + modern Artstation challenge. They depict the story of Maria and Darbo, two knights from the kingdom of Rafalm. In a world full of remnants of times long past.
Thank you very much for all the feedback and support! Despite me joining a week later this challenge has been a lot of fun and an amazing opportunity. I am a huge fan of the Medieval European knight aesthetic and combining sci-fi with fantasy. This project took me around 2.5 weeks in total and was made mostly with Photoshop, aside from the 3D block-outs I made in Maya for the mech and the bike.

What is ALLOY?
ALLOY is my visual sci-fi fantasy IP set in the not-too-distant future of the 23rd century. It depicts the adventures of a lost human soldier and her robot companion, an angry goddess, a young mage who has to protect humanity from the horrors of space, and more. I plan to realize this project in the form of a series of webcomics, concept artworks, and illustrations.

These are the thumbnails. My idea was for the frames to depict the beginning, middle, and end of a story. I wanted to convey that through the colour scheme changes.

Frame #1 - 'Darbo and Maria - knights of Rafalm'. This is the beginning. I wanted to put attention on our main characters' key items - Maria's high-tech sword and Darbo's HIA soldier helmet.

Frame #2 - 'Ride'. This is the adventure shot. At the start I thought the idea was absurd but then I thought why not. I decided to go for it because it invokes the feeling of excitement and wonder that befits the beginning of the story.

Frame #3 - 'The Monoliths'. This is the romantic date. Maria and Darbo have bonded over the course of their journey. I use this as an opportunity to show more of their world. The husks of HIA spaceships resting in the vast fields of Rafalm.

Frame #4 - 'An Unfair Fight'. The ending of this story might not be as happy after all. Maria will have to defend her home from a fallen visitor. Her sword is more than meets the eye. Will she be able to hold off until help arrives?
